Growing beautiful fruit with a smaller footprint

It’s so important to Primafruit and our growers that we produce great tasting fruit, but that it’s grown in a way that’s kind to the environment. That’s why we’ve been watching the progress of South African fruit grower, Louis Loubser. He invented a nifty little device called the Treehog. He wanted to use less water by targeting how the water is delivered around his fruit trees. By making small changes and with the help of prototype models he was able to develop a device that now looks set to revolutionise fruit growing across Europe and beyond.

Primafruit have helped Louis obtain the necessary protections in Europe to begin marketing Treehog to growers. We’ve been introducing it to our growers who produce fruit for Waitrose, aiming to ensure we’re leading the way with some of the most sustainably-produced fruit in the world.
